Dear Courtney,

I've liked this guy for more than a year and a half and now we're dating. I have to lie and sneak out to see him, because my dad is very protective of me. I don't want to lie about him but I still want to go out with him. Am I doing the right thing?

S.14 WI

Dear S,

Well, if you're looking for justification for lying... it's not going to be here! You might find your dad surprisingly reasonable if you tell him about your friend and invite him over. He's protective because he loves you, not out of determination to ruin your social life. Maybe it will have to be 'supervised' dating for awhile, but at least you'll still be able to see your bf... and not squirm with guilt every time you sneak out. Sneaking almost always gets busted and then you've ruined any chance of a healthy relationship AND ever being trusted by your dad! Besides, they might really like each other! Stranger things have happened :)

Dear Courtney,

I got this friend that is all over my brother and is always talkin about him to me and it is gettin on my nerves. What do i do? All she asks about on yahoo messenger is if my brother is here and all kinds of other questions about him....she is so annoyin. What do i do? Thnx Courtney!

Dear A,

My recommendation is to simply forward her messages to your brother. I believe that this is now HIS problem! :) It rather sucks to be used!

Dear Courtney.

my boyfriend and i have been together for almost four years. we have a son togh\ether and i was just wondering if he has time for his trucks and stuff if he will ever have time for me and my son. it gets frustrating when i have off at o\work that he will not spend time with me. Am i being to controlling ? Any suggestions on what i can do to keep him????

P. 27 WI

Dear P,

Why would you want to keep a man who puts trucks before his family? More to the point, why would you want to keep a man who puts ANYTHING before his family?! Sounds like he's escaping... responsibility? This isn't about controlling', but about choices he makes. Now, it's your turn. Make YOUR choice. Continue to hope and nag or begin to develop a life for yourself and your son independently. Who knows, it might get his attention! Either way, it's futile to force him to be where he doesn't want to be.

Your e-love advisor,

Courtney!
